Child sponsorship

TRANSFORM THE LIFE OF AN ENTIRE FAMILY

By sponsoring a child at Casa de Luz, you are keeping at-risk families together, bringing restoration to the vulnerable and sharing the hope that is found in Jesus. Your financial gift brings life changing opportunities to families.

What You Provide

Your sponsorship provides more than you’d think! For just $30 a month, you make it possible for your child to receive nutritious meals, a safe environment while their parent works, teachers who help fill in educational gaps, mentors who provide guidance for their lives in all areas, emotionally, physically and spiritually and endless love from all of our staff who work daily to serve at Casa de Luz Ministries.

Nutritious Meals

We provide children with safe water and three nutritious meals a day to make sure they’re healthy and well-nourished.

Healthcare

We work with local and international medical professionals to establish strong health practices for our community.

Education

We provide the opportunity for children to pursue higher levels of education that they’d be unable to on their own.

Personal Mentorship

Each child in our program receives personal guidance from our staff to help them stay safe and achieve their goals.

Love & Support

Children attending Casa de Luz receive emotional and spiritual support from all of our staff and volunteers.

Frequently asked questions

    Sponsorship
Will my child know that they have a sponsor?
Not only will your child know, but they will be very excited about it! Our kids love their sponsors, and they feel very, very special to know that someone is thinking of them! Please know that your sponsorship provides for more than just physical needs – it provides your child with a sense of belonging, and a confirmation that they are very special. To a child in Mexico, this means the world.
Will I get to see pictures and updates of my child?
Yes! Twice a year, in the spring and winter you will receive updates on your child. Updates will include a picture and depending on the age and ability of the child, they may even write you letters and cards!
May we write to and visit the children we sponsor?
Yes, they are waiting for your letter. We encourage sponsors to write to their child and ask that you use technology such as google translate, if necessary. Depending on their age and ability, they may also write to you. It is also possible to visit the center in Mexico through our mission team’s program. Contact our Canadian offices for more information.
Do the children have more than one sponsor?
In many cases, yes. In order to meet all the expenses and needs of the child, more than one sponsor is often needed. Your combined sponsorship dollars provide safety, stability, nutritious meals, hygiene care, tutoring, mentorship, ongoing emotional support and spiritual discipleship.
Can I sponsor more than one child?
Absolutely! We have many sponsors who sponsor a family of children, or one boy and one girl, or one of several other combinations! Some organizations, businesses, schools, etc., combine their sponsorship money to sponsor multiple children at Casa de Luz in the name of their organization.
Can I send gifts to my child?
Due to high import duties and restrictions by other foreign governments, large packages cannot be delivered to our center. But please do not be discouraged, you are welcome to send small inexpensive gifts that fit into a 6 x 9 inch envelope (i.e., stickers, bandanas, hair ribbons, small coloring books, small puzzles, paper airplanes, etc.). Please do not send jewelry, money or currency or any expensive type of gift. Contact us for the mailing address to send your correspondence.

    General
Why do families need Casa de Luz?
In Mexico, there is a devastating reality called “economic orphans.” This is where single-parents are forced to make the heartbreaking decision to abandon their children to full-time orphanage care in order for them to survive. Casa de Luz steps into this gap, resourcing and supporting single parents in order to be able to keep their children and families together.

Casa de Luz provides safety and care while a single parent is at work during the day. We provide multiple healthy meals and snacks, which for many children is the only time they eat, hygiene care, and ongoing emotional support and spiritual discipleship for the entire family.

In addition to preventing children from becoming ‘street children’ or ‘orphans,’ Casa de Luz helps families take their children out of full-time orphanages and move them back into their family homes, thus keeping families together.

Where is Primo Tapia?
The town is about an hour and a half south of San Diego, California, and about an hour south of Tijuana. Primo Tapia is located in the municipality of Playas de Rosarito in the Mexican state of Baja California.

Primo Tapia is found between two larger cities, Rosarito and Ensenada. Rosarito has a population of approximately 90 000 people, and is home to some major American stores, such as Dollar Stores, Wal-Mart and Home Depot. Ensenada is an American tourist destination and has a population of approximately 260 000 people.

Become a sponsor

Casa de Luz does not receive any government funding or grants but operates solely on the generosity of individuals and private businesses through donations and child sponsorship. None of the work of restoration that happens day after day would be possible without people just like you. Would you step into our journey and the story of our Casa de Luz families?
